February, 2005
Dear AWA member.

It is time for us to update our database, and we would like to invite you in lieu of this year's membership fee to make a donation to the Mallard Restoration Project (MRP). AWA is not charging anyone for a membership for 2005, but is asking you to feel free to contribute to the MRP.

Please inform AWA of any address changes and go to the AWA website http://www.alabamawaterfowl.org and sign up for the email newsletter.

AWA is in the process of donating the Phillips Wildlife Area at Mud creek to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR). This was part of the agreement with TVA for using the grant received to purchase and develop this project. A project sign is being constructed giving credits to AWA for our effort in this project. With increases in land value and construction costs, this equates to over a $400,000 donation to the ADCNR.

The Conservation Seed Program is still planting kilo-acres of wildlife habitat in our state. Dean Farm Supply in Hollywood, Alabama is handling seeds. Corn and sorghum seed will be available soon. Check with Dean Farm Supply for your seed and fertilizer needs; Phone 256 574-1112.

AWA is aggressively pursuing increasing the number of mallards to release in our area. Please help us with this with your benevolence and send your donations now. If you want to order 4 week old mallards for 2005, the fee is $7 for 25 to 199, 200 or more is $6 per mallard. This includes shipping and band price also. Better hurry cut off date is April 1, 2005.

To order mallards send check to:
